Cave village in a gorge.
In former times Khndzoresk was the largest village in Armenia. The ancient settlement consisted of houses-caves on the slopes of the gorge, natural or cut down by people. The houses were located on different levels, steps, and from a distance the villagelooked like a huge multi-storey house. The cave complex is more than a thousand years old. People lived there until they were literally forced to move up to new homes. Recently in Khndzoresk by the forces of local residents a suspension bridge was built across the gorge. At the beginning of the bridge there is a small museum where you can see the interior of the cave house.
