Сам по себе памятник интересный, но нуждается в реставрации. Не случайно палаты приписывают гетману Мазепе. В 17 веке, после мирного присоединения левобережной Украины здесь селились украинцы. Отсюда и названия ул. Маросейка (Малая Русь) и Хохловский переулок.
